Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Connected Switchgear collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (“User”) of the connectedswitchgear.com.au website (“Site”) and the i-TOUCH Home Automation application (“App”). This policy applies to the Site and to all products and services Connected Switchgear offers, in two parts.
1. The Site
Personal identification information
We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including when Users visit our site, register on the site, place an order, subscribe to the newsletter, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site or mobile applications. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information. Users may visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site-related activities.
Non-personal identification information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site: browser name, type of computer, and technical information about a User’s means of connection to our Site, such as operating system and internet service provider.
Web browser cookies
Our Site may use cookies to enhance User experience. A User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. A User may set their browser to refuse cookies, or to alert them when cookies are being sent. If they do, some parts of the Site may not function properly.
How we use collected information
Connected Switchgear may collect and use Users’ personal information for the following purposes:
- To improve customer service. Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.
- To personalise user experience. We may use information in aggregate to understand how Users as a group use the services and resources on our Site.
- To improve our Site. We may use feedback you provide to improve our products and services.
- To process payments. We use information provided when placing an order only to service that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service.
- To run a promotion, contest, survey or other Site feature. To send Users information they agreed to receive about topics we think will interest them.
- To send periodic emails. We may use a User’s email address to send information and updates about their order, and to respond to inquiries, questions or other requests. If a User opts in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates and related product or service information. Unsubscribe instructions are included at the bottom of each email.
How we protect your information
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. Sensitive and private data exchanged between the Site and its Users happens over an SSL-secured, encrypted communication channel.
Sharing your personal information
We do not sell, trade or rent Users’ personal identification information to others. We may share generic, aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification with business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third-party service providers to help operate our business and the Site, such as sending newsletters or surveys, and may share your information with them for those limited purposes only where you have given us permission.
2. The App
Connected Switchgear collects information on how you use this App so we can improve our software and deliver a better experience. We may use unique identifiers to identify your mobile device, and the App may log information such as your operating system and IP address. This App does not collect personal information.
The App does not require Location Services to operate most of its features, but User permission for Location Services to run in the background must be granted to enable the Geo-Fence feature. Use of Location Services is limited to letting the App use the device’s location to trigger automated “Home” and “Away” commands. Connected Switchgear does not collect any information relating to Location Services within this App, and does not allow advertising companies to collect data through our service for ad targeting.
Changes to this policy
Connected Switchgear may update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to check this page periodically for changes; continued use of the Site following any change is deemed acceptance of that change.
